Fractures of the 5th metatarsal are a commonly seen injury from trauma, overuse or even high arches. These injuries often times can be treated conservatively in fracture boot, however can also be surgical based on the patient’s age/activity , comorbidities and fracture pattern. Here is a quick video illustrating the different types of fracture patterns and how they are surgically repaired on a case by case basis.
